RAMSA - ONE PARK

City: New York City

Year: 2018

Scale: 7,600sq ft

At One Park on Park Avenue at 32nd Street, Plantus partnered with Robert A.M. Stern Architects to transform an expansive wrap-around terrace into a refined employee oasis and event space that beautifully balances architectural elegance with lush, urban greenery.

Perched above the bustling Midtown streets, the terrace landscape was conceived as an extension of the building’s classical design vocabulary — a sophisticated outdoor environment where staff and guests can unwind, socialize, and connect with nature. Our approach layered thoughtfully selected plantings with distinctive custom planters to create visual depth, seasonal expression, and spatial definition throughout the space.

The planting palette featured colorful, hearty sedum groundcovers, sculptural Japanese maple trees, native grasses, and resilient evergreen accents that enliven the terrace year-round. Each species was chosen for its performance in terrace conditions, contributing not only visual richness and texture but also resilience to seasonal shifts and wind exposure at elevation.

Strategically placed greenery frames seating areas, guides circulation, and softens the built edges — providing both privacy and openness where appropriate. The result is a terrace that feels both intimately planted and generously spacious, reinforcing One Park’s commitment to workplace wellbeing and outdoor amenity.

Through horticultural expertise and careful coordination with RAMSA’s architectural vision, this project exemplifies how landscape design can elevate elevated outdoor spaces — turning them into memorable destinations that enhance everyday work life in the city.
