Hines - 3 BRYANT PARK

City: New York City

Year: 2015

Scale: 6,400sq ft

Nestled at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and 42nd Street, the landscape at 3 Bryant Park offers a vibrant urban plaza that enriches Midtown Manhattan’s streetscape while providing a serene place to rest and reconnect with nature amid the daily hustle. Plantus collaborated with property management and design partners to activate this prominent outdoor environment with a dynamic planting strategy that complements the plaza’s sculptural art, architectural materials, and year-round public use.

The design celebrates seasonal change with rotating accent plantings that bring texture, color, and vitality throughout the year. From bold swaths of flowering pansies in spring to the lush presence of liriope, hibiscus, and cheerful forsythia, each planting sequence enhances the public realm and frames key gathering areas. The horticultural rhythm of the landscape encourages foot traffic, social interaction, and passive enjoyment — making the plaza a welcoming extension of Bryant Park itself.

Our team also provides ongoing care and stewardship, including regular visits to maintain plant health, fertilization schedules, and meticulous weeding, ensuring that the landscape stays vibrant and pristine in all seasons. This commitment to maintenance reinforces the plaza’s role as a cherished Midtown destination — a cultivated respite woven into one of New York City’s most iconic urban corridors.
