MIQ

City: New York City

Year: 2019

Scale: 2,000sq ft

At 261 Fifth Avenue, Plantus activated a distinctive outdoor landscape environment for MIQ, that enhances this historic Manhattan office building with greenery tailored to its architectural presence and urban context. Located in one of New York’s most vibrant Midtown neighborhoods, 261 Fifth Avenue combines classic brick and terracotta detailing with contemporary amenity spaces, creating opportunities for landscaped features that balance heritage and modern workplace experience.

Our landscape work complements the building’s iconic character and pedestrian experience by integrating thoughtfully selected plantings that bring visual warmth, seasonal interest, and textural richness to the exterior zones. The planting strategy responds to the building’s material palette and street presence while reinforcing key spatial experiences — from entry approaches to outdoor gathering areas. By layering ornamental trees, shrubs, and accent perennials, we created a dynamic composition that evolves throughout the year, enhancing both curb appeal and the everyday enjoyment of the space.

Careful coordination with architectural and property teams ensured that our landscape elements harmonize with circulation, seating zones, and site furnishings, fostering an outdoor environment that supports social interaction, respite, and connection to nature within the urban fabric. The result is a landscape that not only accentuates 261 Fifth Avenue’s unique historic form but also enriches the everyday experience for tenants, visitors, and passersby alike.
