Marx realty - 10 GRAND CENTRAL

City: New York City

Year: 2018

Scale: 3,200

At 10 Grand Central — a reimagined Class A office building blending historic Art Deco heritage with contemporary workplace design — we transformed the landscaped terrace into a signature outdoor amenity that extends the building’s refined interior experience into the heart of Midtown Manhattan. Originally constructed in 1931 and recently revitalized with modern interventions, this iconic address redefines how employees connect with nature in an urban workplace.

Set just off the building’s lounge and gathering spaces, the landscaped terrace serves as a serene outdoor sanctuary — a green haven framed by the city skyline. Our planting design balances lush, layered vegetation with clear circulation and seating zones, creating an inviting environment that supports casual interaction, al fresco breaks, and spontaneous collaboration throughout the workday.

The planting palette was carefully selected to enhance both form and experience: sculptural shrubs and textural perennials add seasonal interest and movement, while evergreen accents lend structure and year-round presence. These landscapes work in concert with the terrace’s thoughtful seating arrangements and atmosphere — offering a sense of refuge and ease in contrast to the energy of Midtown’s streets.

By integrating greenery that feels both purposeful and effortless, the terrace becomes more than an outdoor space — it’s a destination that reinforces wellbeing and connection, reflecting 10 Grand Central’s commitment to dynamic workplace environments that support productivity, comfort, and respite in equal measure.
